The Tour In My Voice
Join me on an unforgettable adventure – a snowshoe hike and ice fishing trip in the pristine wilderness of Tromsø!
We’ll start our journey by meeting at the pick-up point and make sure all the equipment fits perfectly. Then, we’ll hop in the car and embark on a scenic 40-minute drive to a picturesque lake.
Once we arrive, we’ll strap on our snowshoes and set off on a guided hike through the snow-covered landscape. The duration of the hike will vary depending on our pace and the conditions, but it typically takes between 30 to 60 minutes to reach our destination – a tranquil frozen lake nestled amidst the mountains.
Here, we’ll experience the ancient art of ice fishing firsthand. With the help of traditional techniques, we’ll drill through the thick ice, drop our lines, and wait for the fish to bite. If the fish doesn’t bite we move our holes around, change bait or try to “jigg” our bait. We’ll gather around a crackling fire to warm up, enjoy some lunch, snacks and drinks, and share stories. Other then that you will get to experince the true calm and quiet the snow covered landscape provides(honestly something for it self). Hopefully this quiet will be interupted from time to time with the screams of “FISH ON!!!”
After spending a couple of hours on the ice doing our best to catch fish, we’ll pack up and begin our journey back through the snowy wilderness. As we make our way back to the car, keep your eyes peeled for Arctic wildlife and marvel at the beauty of the surrounding flora and fauna.
By the time we return to your hotel, you’ll have gained a newfound appreciation for the winter landscape of Tromsø, learned the art of ice fishing, and even possibly caught a fish for dinner(If you don’t want it I will have dinner;). Plus, I’ll be snapping photos along the way so you can cherish the memories for years to come.
So, lace up your shoes and join me for a day of adventure, exploration, and unforgettable experiences in the heart of Norway’s winter wonderland!

.
Private transport (pick-up & drop-off in Tromsø)
You will be picked up in a 8 seter Mercedes Viano. We have opted for one seat less then most other small tours have, so you and your driver and guide can communicate better. It is also a 4 wheel drive that has been lifted to have a higher ground clearens, this is to drive safer on the road and to avoide getting stuck in snow.
.
Snowshoes and poles
We have three options to choose from. Large, medium and small. We will decide your size depending on your shoe-size.
.
Ice fishing gear (drill, rods, bait, etc.)
We provide all the gear for fishing. The gear we provide is the same as we use on personal trips. If you want to try ice-fishing with a specific type of gear, add that inn your request when booking.
.
Campfire with lunch, hot drinks & snacks
Fishing takes patience, so we make the wait easier with a campfire and a snow sofa(Snofa) at the edge of the ice. It’s a good spot to warm up, or to relax if you came along more for the experience than the fishing.
I serve warm fish stew with bread toasted over the fire, and coffee brewed on the flames. There are usually a few good snacks to go with it.
.
Instruction in traditional fishing techniques
I’ll show you how I fish, and then the lake is yours. Try things out and find what works for you. Do it all yourself, or ask me for help whenever you need it.
.
Safety equipment
We navigate with both maps and GPS, and you’re welcome to try them yourself. Your guide also carries an emergency beacon that alerts rescue services, including a helicopter, at the press of a button.

Our Approach To Safety
Safety through planning
Every tour is planned before we leave. I check the weather, trail and ice conditions beforehand, choose a route that fits your group, and always have a backup plan. If conditions change on the day, I adjust the route or the timing. Your safety always comes before the schedule.
Safte to Learn
Feeling safe is also about how the day feels. There’s no pressure to keep up, to be good at anything or to do things a certain way. Go at your own pace, ask as many questions as you like, and say so if you’re cold, tired or unsure. Small groups mean I know how everyone is doing, so you can relax, try new things and enjoy being outdoors.
Safte through gear
We use quality equipment and well-maintained 4×4 vehicles built for Arctic conditions. On every hike we bring a warm emergency tent, a repair kit, a first-aid kit and an extra pair of shoes. We navigate with both maps and GPS. Your guide also carries an emergency beacon that alerts rescue services at the press of a button.
