If you’re looking for an unforgettable Northern Lights experience, Jorgen is truly the guide you want.
From start to finish, he went far beyond what we expected. What we thought would be a simple aurora chase turned into a full adventure. He took our small group up a snowy mountain on a beautiful hike, thoughtfully equipping us with everything we needed: proper shoes, outerwear, torches. So we felt completely comfortable and prepared.
What stood out even more was the effort he put in to create a magical atmosphere. He carried reindeer skins, built a fire for us in the snow, and treated us to delicious homemade soup. We even had marshmallows, chocolate, and crackers for s’mores under the Arctic sky, which honestly felt surreal.
And then, of course, the Northern Lights themselves! Jorgen knew exactly where to take us. We were lucky enough to witness not just one, but two spectacular shows while sitting together on the mountain. It was breathtaking.
Beyond all of this, Jorgen made us feel incredibly safe throughout the experience. He’s knowledgeable, having grown up in Tromsø, and shared so many insights along the way. He’s also genuinely funny and warm, which made the entire evening even more special.
He also took the most amazing photos for us, something we’ll treasure forever.

We booked a Northern Lights tour with Jorgen (owner of Rise Adventures), and it was the best experience of our two-week Nordic trip, thanks to him.
The tour started exactly at the time he had set, and unlike big tour groups, there were only six people on his tour, which gave us a much more personal experience. He had a fantastic Mercedes, and it was extremely comfortable to travel in, especially since you spend eight hours on the tour. Jorgen warned us before we started that the chances were low, and based on his experience he would try to chase them in places with a high probability. We first went to an isolated lake, maybe 40–50 km from the city. He gave us thermal suits that were extremely useful in the cold weather, and arranged a campfire. There were also reindeer cushions that were very comfortable to sit on around the fire. There we had a good conversation with him, and were served the fantastic Norwegian soup he made. We spent maybe two hours here waiting for the lights, but since they didn’t show up, we went to another place. Despite constant rain and low probability, Jorgen was determined to show us the lights and drove another 50 km to get the same. Finally, at midnight, we saw them, and they were simply fantastic. Jorgen made sure we all managed to capture this beautiful memory and took fantastic photos with his professional camera. Here he also served us hot chocolate, and in addition we saw a brilliant Northern Lights show for about half an hour. In the end, we went home and arrived at our place at 03:00 after a successful Northern Lights hunt.
Now to Jorgen. He is a fantastic tour guide and one of the best I have met so far. He does his job with pure passion, and you can see it in his determination to give the best customer experience. As I pointed out earlier, the chances for the Northern Lights were already low, and with constant rain it was difficult to find them that day. But he still tried, and thanks to his effort we could see them. Unlike other tour operators, he focuses on giving customers the best experience. If you are in Tromsø and looking for activities nearby, he is the man for you. Trust me, he will not hesitate to do that little extra and give you the best experience. I highly recommend him and ask all of you to try it. Once again, thank you to Jorgen for giving us such a fantastic Northern Lights tour experience.

Highly recommended! Jorgen is a fantastic tour guide and a great guy. His knowledge of Norwegian and Sami history, wildlife and survival skills truly makes the whole experience unforgettable. He found the best place for us to see the most beautiful Northern Lights. Afterwards he set up a campfire with reindeer skins and gave us a delicious homemade fish stew, a local berry drink and s’mores for dessert. He is very friendly, and the small group creates a nicer and more social atmosphere compared to other tours. Can’t recommend enough!
