The Tour In My Voice
Join a small group of fellow travelers and discover Tromsø’s dramatic coastline on this fjord adventure. This experience combines breathtaking Arctic scenery, meaningful local storytelling, and a high-quality lunch, all guided by someone who grew up among these mountains and inlets.
Travel in comfort through winding coastal roads where old farms meet the open sea and snowy peaks rise across the horizon. Along the way, you’ll stop at hidden viewpoints, explore fishing villages, and keep an eye out for wildlife such as reindeer, sea eagles, or even otters. With only up to 7 guests, there’s space for connection, conversation, and stillness in the Arctic landscape.

Start 09:00
Pick-up in Tromsø
We start the day in central Tromsø, where you meet me and the rest of the small group (max 7 guests). After a short hello and a quick overview of the day, we get settled into the Mercedes 4×4 and head out along the coast.
Drive to Sommerøya
Leaving the City & First Fjord Views
As we drive out of Tromsø, the city slowly gives way to open sea, islands and sharp mountain peaks. The total driving time for the day is around 2 hours and 10 minutes, but it never feels long – the other 4 hours of the day go to regular stops for photos, stories and small walks.
Along the way, I’ll point out old farms, fishing villages and places that have shaped life in this part of Norway, sharing a mix of local history, culture and personal memories.
The Activity
Scenic Stops, Stories & Wildlife
We start our drive along the south side of Kvaløya, for views of farms, cultural landscapes, amazing mountain views and to have the best chances of seeing wildlife. We stop whenever the light, weather or landscape calls for it. Some stops are for wide, open views; others are for cultural sights or quiet little spots that most people just drive past.
We keep an eye out for reindeer, sea eagles, and – if we’re lucky – otters or other wildlife. The exact stops change with the season and weather, so no two days are exactly the same.
Food
Lunch with a View at Sommarøy
Around the middle of the day, we stop for lunch at Sommarøy or a similar scenic spot overlooking the sea.
You’ll get fresh sandwiches made with local ingredients, served with hot drinks and snacks. This is usually a slow, relaxed break: time to enjoy the view, breathe, and just be present in the landscape.
Meal
Lunch
While we wait, we gather around a crackling fire to warm up, enjoy lunch, snacks and drinks, and share stories.
Drive back to Tromsø
Exploring, Short Walks & Photography
After lunch, we continue exploring along the northern side of Kvaløya, where we get great views of the fjords and the amazing mountain landscape of the island. Sometimes we take short walks in the snow or down to the shoreline, sometimes we just step out for a few quiet minutes and some photos.
I’ll help with photography on your phone or camera if you want, and we’ll adjust the pace to the group, the weather and the light. The aim is not to rush from stop to stop, but to actually feel the places we visit.
Back around 15:30
Return to Tromsø
In the afternoon, we slowly make our way back towards Tromsø, with a final few stops if time and light allow. We usually return to the city around 15:30, after roughly 6 hours together.

Our Approach To Safety
Safety through planning
Every tour is planned before we leave. I check the weather, trail and ice conditions beforehand, choose a route that fits your group, and always have a backup plan. If conditions change on the day, I adjust the route or the timing. Your safety always comes before the schedule.
Safte to Learn
Feeling safe is also about how the day feels. There’s no pressure to keep up, to be good at anything or to do things a certain way. Go at your own pace, ask as many questions as you like, and say so if you’re cold, tired or unsure. Small groups mean I know how everyone is doing, so you can relax, try new things and enjoy being outdoors.
Safte through gear
We use quality equipment and well-maintained 4×4 vehicles built for Arctic conditions. On every hike we bring a warm emergency tent, a repair kit, a first-aid kit and an extra pair of shoes. We navigate with both maps and GPS. Your guide also carries an emergency beacon that alerts rescue services at the press of a button.
