The Tour In My Voice
The Northern Lights are magical on their own, but how you experience them matters. My chase is designed for travellers who want something real! Small groups, authentic stories, and the silence of true wilderness, not a crowded parking lot filled with busloads of tourists.
With only a handful of guests in a comfortable 4×4 7-seater Mercedes, we have the freedom to adapt, to follow the weather, and to go wherever the aurora leads. This flexibility gives us the very best chance of seeing the lights, and the intimacy of a small group means the night feels personal and unhurried.
Around the fire, I’ll share not just hot drinks and homemade food, but also stories, local insights, and the skills I’ve learned growing up in the Arctic. From survival techniques to cultural traditions, you’ll experience more than just the northern lights, you’ll get a glimpse into what it means to live here.
What makes this chase unique is the care, the space, and the atmosphere. It’s a night built on connection; to the land, to the sky, and to each other. You’ll return not only with photos of the aurora, but with memories of a night that felt truly yours.

Where the Light takes us
Aurora Watch & Campfire
Once we find a promising location with good skies, we hike a short distance to get away from the road, lights and other distractions, to enjoy the dark, quiet winter landscape. There we’ll set up a cosy campfire, share hot drinks, and enjoy a homemade bacalao dinner with fresh bread.
At the activity
Photography & Stories
If the aurora appears, I’ll capture professional photos of you under the lights. When the sky is quiet, I’ll share Arctic stories, local history, and insights about the northern lights. If the weather changes, we will keep on chasing!
Back in Tromsø around 00:00
Flexible Return
Depending on conditions, we may change location during the night to improve our chances. After 6–8 hours, you’ll be returned to your hotel with memories to last a lifetime.
Inclusion

Professional guide
You are guaranteed a guide who was born and raised in the Tromsø region, with extensive knowledge of Arctic life, the sky and the weather.
.
Private transport (pick-up & drop-off in Tromsø)
You will be picked up in an 8-seater Mercedes Viano. We have chosen one seat fewer than most small tour opperators so that you, your driver and your guide can talk more easily. It is also a 4×4 that has been lifted for higher ground clearance, which makes it safer on winter roads and helps us avoid getting stuck in snow. Because we chase clear skies, we can drive to where the aurora is most likely to show.
.
Campfire with hot drinks and snacks
While we wait for the sky to come alive, we gather around a campfire. I brew coffee on the flames, and there are usually a few good snacks to go with it. It’s a good place to warm up, share stories and watch the sky.
.
Northern Lights guidance and stories
I’ll explain how the aurora works, how I read the forecast and the clouds, and where to look. When the sky is quiet, I share Arctic stories, local history and skills from growing up here. Ask as many questions as you like.
.
Professional photos
If the aurora appears, I will take professional photos of you under the lights. You will receive an edited gallery within 72 hours, and I’m happy to give tips if you want to take your own photos too.
.
Thermal suits and boots
Thermal suits and boots are provided if you need them. Wool socks and wool base layers are recommended, and gloves and a hat are necessary.

Our Approach To Safety
Safety through planning
Every tour is planned before we leave. I check the weather, trail and ice conditions beforehand, choose a route that fits your group, and always have a backup plan. If conditions change on the day, I adjust the route or the timing. Your safety always comes before the schedule.
Safte to Learn
Feeling safe is also about how the day feels. There’s no pressure to keep up, to be good at anything or to do things a certain way. Go at your own pace, ask as many questions as you like, and say so if you’re cold, tired or unsure. Small groups mean I know how everyone is doing, so you can relax, try new things and enjoy being outdoors.
Safte through gear
We use quality equipment and well-maintained 4×4 vehicles built for Arctic conditions. On every hike we bring a warm emergency tent, a repair kit, a first-aid kit and an extra pair of shoes. We navigate with both maps and GPS. Your guide also carries an emergency beacon that alerts rescue services at the press of a button.
