Why We Guide Jørgen: “I started guiding thinking it would be a great fit for my restless soul and a way to make a little money. But I kept going when I realized the impact I could have on people—and the impact they had on me. My time as a guide has given me immense personal growth.” One moment as a guide; “One unforgettable moment happened in February last year. It was a typical Northern Lights chase, and the conditions were perfect—a crisp, cold night with a crystal-clear sky. I drove to a remote spot, far from people, houses, and roads, hoping for an incredible light show. But when we arrived, there were no lights. I felt disappointed for my guests, but I set up a fire, made benches in the snow, and passed around warm drinks. That’s when I noticed one of my guests standing about 100 meters away, alone. Concerned, I walked over to check on her. She was crying. She looked over at me and said “I don’t know if I should be happy or scared,”. “I’m 40 years old, and I have never experienced absolute silence before… until now. It’s so calming, but also terrifying. I think I love it.” Turned out she had grown up in Mumbai and had only ever visited cities. That moment, standing in the Arctic wilderness, changed her. All our guides are trained in first aid, mass casualty response, avalanche rescue, mountain evacuation, and crisis management. Our drivers undergo government-certified crisis courses for traffic accidents. We carry satellite beacons connected directly to emergency services, ensuring a rapid response if needed.
